Residents of The Rectory Care Home in Taunton were among the throngs of guests celebrating the town’s annual Armed Forces Day in Vivary Park.
The event, which takes place every summer, celebrates serving personnel, veterans, cadets and military families from across the county.
Manager Abbie Foster said: “It means such a lot to our ladies and gents to be able to take part in these celebrations.
“They had a great time watching the military displays, and other live entertainments.
“In particular, they were transfixed by the fly-over displays featuring smaller old planes.
“The ice cream van was also a great hit: we really enjoyed eating our ice creams and making the most of the lovely summer’s day.
“Outings like this are so important for keeping people engaged when they are living with dementia, and it was also so nice to have some family members with us.”
