Residents at St Cecilia Care Home in Shepton Mallet savoured the flavours of the Mediterranean during a lively themed teatime celebrating international cuisine.
The menu featured classic southern European favourites, including pitta bread, olives, roasted tomatoes and hummus, allowing residents to savour the vibrant flavours of the region.
“Themed meals give residents the chance to sample new dishes, and if they enjoy them, they can be added to the regular menu,” said
manager Tracy Woolfrey.
“They also make mealtimes more enjoyable; it’s about more than just eating; it’s about enjoyment, engagement, and social time together.”
Gentle Mediterranean-inspired music played in the background, with familiar tunes like “Volare” and “O Sole Mio,” adding to the relaxed, sunny atmosphere.
For those with simpler tastes, familiar favourites such as jacket potatoes, cheese and crackers, and sandwiches were also available.
